Sufi music has been accepted as food for the soul in the Anatolian geography for centuries, illuminating the path of dervishes seeking truth. As Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi often emphasized in his works, music is not a tool for rest, but a means of "awakening".


Effects of Maqams on the Soul

Maqams, which were also used for treatment purposes in healing centers in the past, appeal to different emotions of human beings. For example:

  • Rast Maqam: Gives joy and peace. It feels like spring freshness.
  • Nihavend Maqam: Gives strength and courage, while also containing elegance.
  • Ussak Maqam: Evokes feelings of laughter, joy, strength and heroism.

Inner peace is what modern man lost in the chaos of the age needs most. Hymns and qasaid step in right at this point and sprinkle water on hearts. Every work that starts with the cry of "Allah" is actually a reflection of the servant's endless longing for his creator.


As a hymn artist who has spent his years on this path, the most intense emotion I feel while performing my works is the maqam of "Nothingness". What reaches the audience is not just my voice, but a common state of prayer...
